Our Philosophy

A Brighter Beginning ELC, is a vibrant and happy learning community where children, families and educators work together to provide the best foundation for each child’s wellbeing and learning. We are a staff committed to the value of collaboration, learning and relationships with children, families and the community. We acknowledge the value of play and its relationship to learning and value Vygotsky’s social constructivist theories about how children learn through social interaction and hands-on experiences. Our educational programs value the creative arts and connect with elements of significant philosophies and theories in early education, including the REA (Reggio Emilia Approach).

We have created an environment which is warm and inviting to children and their families, a community where cultural diversity is respected and reciprocal relationships are valued. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Kombumerri People of the Yugembah Nation. We respect our families as the first educators of their children and work together to build trusting relationships which encourage family participation.

We are believers that our children develop connection to the world through “Belonging, Being and Becoming”. We understand the importance of connection to nature and connection to self in early childhood. We aspire to instill a love and passion for our natural earth and environment in our children. We respect that children in early childhood have their own inspirations to learn and also that children learn socially as well as through play, their environment and co- construction. We believe in the competencies and capabilities of our children and our curriculum and environment is supportive of this.

We are guided by children’s ideas and interests in learning, allowing an emerging program to develop alongside having a program planned in advance. We scaffold children’s learning and development through play. We intentionally create educational experiences for children through observing children and planning extensions for learning connected to the Early Years Learning Framework.

Our educators and teachers are ongoing participants in reflective practice in early childhood education where we understand contemporary perspectives on enhancing early childhood development.
